Wilcox Gardens

Advertorial

Copy Excerpts:

Imagine finding a secluded neighborhood in the heart of East Grand Rapids. A cozy cul-de-sac where residents are friends, not strangers. Brand new homes that appeal to the heart as well as the head, and look as if they have been standing for years, not months. A place in the center of the city, yet feels as if it’s miles away.

You’re not imagining. You’re in Wilcox Gardens.

Family: First and Foremost
Wilcox Gardens is named after Frederick and Caroline Wilcox, prominent turn-of-the-century East Grand Rapids residents and community benefactors. Parents of five children — Raymond, Louise, Sanford, Marian and Robert — Frederick and Caroline built homes, a garden, gazebo, and family recreation center on several acres of land adjacent to their own house for each of their children and their families. That site, just off Lake Drive in East Grand Rapids, now stands across from the present Wealthy Elementary School.

Today, two long-time East Grand Rapids who own and live in the remaining original Wilcox family homes, made a commitment to preserve the neighborhood and renew the estate property.
